Latest Update — Last verified: 28 October 2026

The T-Cash Card is Punjab’s rechargeable smart card for public transport, run through the Punjab Masstransit Authority’s e-Transit system. For students, the card is linked to the student’s ID and institution record so that only verified students receive the student travel benefit — free or heavily subsidised rides on the covered networks, depending on the student category and phase shown on the official portal.

The card works beyond travel as well: it functions as a debit-style smart card for everyday cashless payments. The issuance fee is Rs. 130 for all citizens, and the assisted-registration helpline is 1762. Paper tokens on the covered networks are being phased out, according to the Punjab Masstransit Authority, which is why regular commuters are being moved to T-Cash.

One honest warning before you apply: student registration windows have opened and closed in phases since launch, and registration is not always open year-round. If the official portal shows no open window for your institution right now, do not pay any agent — wait for the fresh announcement and check the portal again.

Who Is Eligible?

  • A student currently enrolled in a recognised school (Grade 6 and above), college, university or madrasa in Punjab.
  • Holding a valid Punjab domicile or proof of permanent residence in Punjab.
  • Holding a valid CNIC (for students aged 18 and above) or B-Form (for younger students).
  • Your educational institution must be located within Punjab, and you must hold a valid student ID card from it.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

  1. Open the official portal — students-t-cash.punjab.gov.pk for the student portal, or etransit.punjab.gov.pk — or download the “e-Transit Punjab” app.
  2. Register or log in with your student details and an active mobile number.
  3. Fill the form: personal details, institution, and travel route, exactly as they appear on your documents.
  4. Upload clear scans: student ID card, CNIC or B-Form, proof of current enrolment (fee receipt or bonafide certificate), and a recent passport-size photograph.
  5. Pay the Rs. 130 issuance fee through the portal’s payment option and submit. Save your application tracking number.
  6. When you receive the “Ready for Collection” SMS, collect your card from your chosen Metro or Orange Line station within the window stated in the SMS — the standard collection window reported for the card is 10 days.

How to Recharge the Card

  • Any bank app, debit card or credit card.
  • Easypaisa and JazzCash authorised shops.
  • Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) at Metro and Orange Line stations.
  • Balances update instantly, so you can top up on the way to the station.
