Latest Update — Last verified: 28 October 2026
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme at a ceremony at the Convention Centre, Islamabad, on 25 October 2026. Under the scheme, 500,000 Chromebook laptops will be given to students over two years. The programme is run by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training together with the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, and results are verified through the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).
Each Chromebook comes with a high-speed internet device. The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme announced that 500,000 internet connections will also be given, and because one connection can benefit up to five people, the scheme is expected to extend digital access to around 2.5 million people.
Selection is strictly merit-based. Students are ranked within their own province or region, education board and study group until that quota is filled. Passing with a minimum percentage alone does not guarantee a device — your board must have sent your name on its list of top performers to IBCC.
Who Is Eligible?
- Students enrolled in government or public schools. Private school students are not eligible under the IBCC portal rules.
- Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan: top performers of Grade 9 (SSC-I) in the Annual Examinations 2026.
- Islamabad (ICT), Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan: top performers of Grade 9 and Grade 10 (SSC-I and SSC-II).
- Students of registered madrasas are included through a separate share, verified through the Directorate General of Religious Education.
- A minimum of 50 percent marks has been reported as a floor, but selection depends on merit ranking within your board and group — not on the minimum alone.
- Each student can apply only once.
Province-Wise Quota (500,000 Total)
| Region | Chromebooks |
| Punjab | 181,090 |
| Islamabad Capital Territory | 100,000 |
| Sindh | 85,925 |
| Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | 51,170 |
| Balochistan | 31,815 |
| Azad Jammu & Kashmir | 25,000 |
| Gilgit-Baltistan | 25,000 |
Within each region’s share, 80 percent of devices go to school students and 20 percent to madrasa students. Of the school share, 70 percent is for the science group and 30 percent for the arts group.
Step-by-Step: How to Apply on the IBCC Portal
- Check your board’s list first. Boards send the names of shortlisted top performers to IBCC — if your name is not on your board’s list, the portal will not show your record.
- Open the official IBCC portal at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk and select your board.
- Find your record by entering your CNIC or B-Form number, roll number or registration number (numbers only, no dashes) and your date of birth.
- Check the details shown — your name, school and marks come from your board’s list. If anything is wrong, contact your board; do not submit a wrong record.
- Upload the documents the portal asks for and submit. Save your reference number and download your slip.
- Keep checking the portal for your application status. Devices are expected to be delivered to selected students through courier, with a central system tracking dispatches.
Important note on timing: there is no single national last date on the portal — each board’s list and window is different. A notice on the portal states that Sindh students’ registration will open after all Sindh boards announce their 2026 annual ninth-grade results. Check your own board’s notice and the portal, not a forwarded message, before assuming your window is open or closed.

Frequently Asked Questions
I am a private school student with high marks. Can I apply?
No. The IBCC portal states that only students enrolled in government or public schools are eligible, plus registered madrasa students through their separate share.
I scored above 50 percent. Will I definitely get a Chromebook?
Not necessarily. Fifty percent is reported as a minimum floor; actual selection is by merit ranking within your province, board and group until the quota is filled.
Where do I apply?
Only on the official IBCC portal, pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk. Do not apply through any agent, shop or social media page claiming to register you.
Is there any fee?
The scheme is a free government distribution for selected students. Never pay anyone who promises to add your name to a merit list.
What if my name is missing from my board’s list?
Contact your board or school first — boards compile and send the lists to IBCC. Grievance committees at board and provincial level are planned for merit, eligibility and missing-record complaints.
Final Words
If you are a government-school topper of Grade 9 (or Grade 10 in ICT, AJK and GB), check your board’s list on the IBCC portal today. The quota for your province is fixed — and once it fills, the window for your board will not reopen.
